The way of harmony

A martial art without competition, where you learn not to turn an opponent into an enemy. Beginners are welcome at every class — the first month is on us.

Musubi The attack comes straight in. The circle does not block it: it welcomes it and draws it into its own movement, until the two become one. Your turn: start outside and draw an attack toward the circle, with the mouse or a finger.

What is aikido?

Three characters, one way

Founded in Japan by Morihei Ueshiba, aikido relies on evasion, non-resistance and unbalancing. It takes more suppleness than strength, and can be practised at any age.

  1. Ai

    Harmony, joining

Blending with the other’s movement rather than opposing it.

  2. Ki

    Energy, spirit

Vital energy — what flows when the body is relaxed and centred.

  3. Dō

    The way

A lifelong practice, on the mat and beyond it.
