Since 1992 · Gland

A dojo on La Côte

Founded in 1992 by the late Bernard Caloz Shihan, the ACLC teaches aikido in Gland (Salle Montoly). A small, friendly association and a member of the Swiss Cultural Aikido Association.

Our story

34 years on the mat

Aïkido Club La Côte — the ACLC to its regulars — was founded in 1992 by Bernard Caloz Shihan, who guided it for nearly thirty years. His high standards shaped the spirit of the club: a clean aikido, free of frills, where you look for the right movement rather than for strength.

Today, classes are taught by three instructors holding Aikikai teaching titles, alongside the club’s senior practitioners. We train two evenings a week in Gland, adults and juniors, and beginners are welcome at every class.

The club is an association: its members meet every year at the general assembly, and everyone contributes, in their own way, to the life of the dojo.

A member of the ACSA

The Swiss Cultural Aikido Association (ACSA — Association Culturelle Suisse d’Aïkido) brings together Swiss clubs affiliated with the Aikikai, the Tokyo foundation built around aikido’s founder, Morihei Ueshiba, and still led by his family today.

Through it, the ACLC belongs to the lineage of the Hombu Dōjō, the Aikikai’s headquarters dojo: our instructors’ dan grades and teaching titles are recognised there.

Week by week, adult classes are led in turn by our instructors and by the club’s senior practitioners. Each brings their own feel for the art — a good way to see the same technique through several eyes.
